Using An Electronic Leg Massager To Improve Circulation

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Have you ever suffered from swollen feet after a long day of sitting down or standing up? When we are either sitting still or standing up, the blood in our legs can easily start building up and slowly the fluids will start to get to the tissue which causes swelling. Unfortunately most of us have to keep on working so you have to live with the problem. You can get help from using a leg massager like the one linked there. It will help the blood circulation and at the same time it is going to relax your tense muscles and relieve you from the pains in your feet and legs.

After a long day at work it can be difficult to summon the energy to see a massage therapist who can help you with the problem. You don’t need a professional to do it every time, but some of us don’t have people at home to do it, or the people are simply not willing to give you foot rubs every night. An electric massager is a very affordable way to help improve the circulation in your feet, and when compared to seeing a professional, it will reimburse itself in only a few times you use it.

All you need to do is come home after a long day at work, prepare something easy to eat and sit down on your sofa and turn on the TV or start reading a nice book. Place your legs inside the machine, choose the level at which you want the massage to be done and set the time. Depending on the machine there will be various options that allow you to choose from kneading massage, shiatsu massage and adding vibration and a heating therapy to the mix. Heat will very effectively help your muscles to relax, and if you are using the machine mainly for this purpose, it is something you should consider.

Thanks to the simultaneous massage to your feet, ankles and legs you won’t have to use the machine for hours to get a full leg massage, and it will be a lot more effective in increasing the circulation in your legs. When the pressure is applied to the skin, it transfers to the blood vessels which will then add hydrostatic pressure to your blood, which will in turn rise up and at the same time it will help reduce swelling. Another benefit from the massage is the lymphatic system stimulation which will help metabolic waste products from getting away from the cells. Since the lymphatic fluids will flow faster, you will be able to get rid of lactic acid more effectively. Lactic acid is one of the biggest reasons for muscle pain.

Using a leg massager regularly will help you maintain good circulation in your legs which will in turn help your muscles throughout the day. This will reduce your leg pains and swelling. I know that these electric massagers can seem quite expensive at first glance, but when you do the math and see how few times you would see a massage therapist for the same price, you will realize the value.

Do I Need An External Hard Drive?

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

There was a time in my life when I didn’t see the point of having an external hard disk. Basically what I saw was just another useless box sitting on the table that was slow! The speed was important back then as they were just evolving, and there weren’t those high speed data transfers that you can have today with firewire or even with ethernet hard drives. So that is why I never bought an external hard drive in the past and didn’t see any point in it. Times do change.

Today I have quite a different mindset to the whole thing. I have a family and I have a lot of family photos that need to be stored somewhere safe. I have a lot of work on my computer that need to be backed up to avoid data loss in case the computer breaks down. For that I have thought about getting not one, but too external discs, that will not be separate, but actually as a RAID configuration – I figured double the safety with that! I would get one of those network access storage boxes that are designed to function as a “home network media server” and based on what I have read online, it is not necessarily a bad idea.

What do I hope to achieve with this? Photos can’t be replaced with money – even if my hard drive breaks, my insurance wil pay me the costs of the drive, but it is not going to pay me the memories that I lost. I have a lot of happy memories with my family from our vacations abroad and those can’t be replaced.

Work is another thing that can’t be re-done. Once I finish a project, there isn’t a way that I could re-do it and still get the same results. You have to do it when you have the inspiration for it, and that is when the best comes out from you. As a result I am pretty sure that I will get that external hard drive – what is your opinion on the matter?
